This charming head, broken at the neck, is modeled from fine-grained pink terracotta; there are traces of brown paint in her hair. The young girl tilts her head slightly to the left: her youth is clear from the rounded forms of her face (her chin and cheeks). Her elegant features have been modeled with a great deal of finesse; her expression is sweet, but also a bit sad.

In Asia Minor, especially in Myrina (in the north of modern-day Izmir), close parallels to our young girl have been found; from a typological point of view, our head resembles those of Eros and Ariadne (Dionysos’ consort). However, the precise identification of this head remains unknown.
